About the opportunity

We’re looking for an Applications Specialist to play a key role within our Service & Aftermarket team, supporting customers with technical expertise, reliable solutions, and exceptional service.

In this role, you’ll be deeply involved in aftermarket service, repair, and solutions of valve and automation products, acting as a trusted advisor to our customers. You’ll manage service opportunities end to end, from understanding customer needs and developing technical solutions, to preparing quotations, supporting execution, and closing the loop with final reports and sale finalization. This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with sales, service partners, and internal teams to improve reliability and deliver real value to our customers.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare quotations and repair reports that clearly support recommended solutions
  • Manage service cases from initial request through completion and final documentation
  • Partner closely with sales, service teams, and customers to drive profitable growth, creating a win-win for CGIS and its customers
  • Support site visits, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with planning and operations teams to maintain appropriate spare parts inventory and support customers with their critical spare needs
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience while strengthening CGIS’s service reputation

About you

  • 5+ years’ experience with industrial valves and/or automation
  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Process) or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC requirements; Destructive, and non-destructive testing requirements
  • Experience serving industries such as mining, oil & gas, power, water/wastewater, or pulp & paper is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to develop meaningful working relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues
  • Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver effective solutions to customer needs
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for learning and problem-solving

This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy and strong fundamentals but also brings critical thinking and curiosity to their work. We’re looking for someone who not only keeps things running smoothly day to day, but also looks for ways to improve, streamline, and automate processes to help us scale effectively.

Reporting to the Controller, you’ll work closely with both Accounting and People & Culture, supporting the day-to-day financial operations across all companies within our group. Key responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, federal and provincial tax filings, payroll preparation, and other accounting tasks and reporting as assigned.

What You’ll Do:

  • Preparing and posting journal entries, including accruals, payroll entries, and adjustments
  • Performing monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
  • Supporting the full-cycle payroll process in collaboration with People & Culture (including benefits, WCB, and related filings)
  • Preparing and filing GST/HST and PST returns (monthly and quarterly)
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end close
  • Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an Accounting Diploma with 2–3 years of relevant experience (industrial and/or sales environment preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Canadian payroll and sales tax regulations (GST/HST, PST)
  • Experience with accounting software such as SAP Business One, QuickBooks, or a similar ERP
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data validation)
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • A critical thinker who can analyze information and make sound recommendations

What you’ll do

  • Prepare solutions to problematic services by evaluating the application, understanding the process and the client’s needs to find the right valve for the job

  • Be a trusted partner for severe service, control, automation, and on/off valves

  • Prepare accurate, competitive quotes (lead time, margin, specs) and manage them through to close

  • Work across a wide product range (ball, butterfly, knife gate valves, actuators, and accessories)

  • Partner with Sales, customers, and manufacturers to deliver fast, reliable solutions

  • Manage multiple inquiries and projects with speed, precision, and accountability

What you bring

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or relevant work experience

  • Proven experience with industrial valves, instrumentation, or automation (controls and instrumentation)

  • Strong understanding of quoting, margins, and order lifecycle (SAP is an asset)

  • Working knowledge of QA/QC requirements, destructive and non-destructive requirements

  • Experience in industries like Oil & Gas, Mining, Power, Water/Wastewater, or Pulp & Paper will be considered an asset

  • Ability to translate technical requirements into winning commercial proposals

We’re looking for a driven Technical Sales Representative who combines strong commercial instinct with technical expertise to grow and manage a high-value territory.

Reporting to the VP of Sales, you’ll be responsible for managing and growing the assigned territory through consultative selling of our industry-leading valve, automation, and service products, covering assigned clients in the Mining, Pulp & Paper, Power, Oil and Gas, Refining, Water/Wastewater Industries.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Own and grow a ~$2.5M+ territory through proactive, consultative selling
  • Foster relationships with customers by successfully helping them meet their needs each day
  • Identify opportunities, follow up on quotes, and close business consistently
  • Partner with Applications Specialists to deliver accurate, high-performance solutions
  • Advise customers on valve and automation selection, effectively presenting the solutions that best meet the customer’s needs
  • Manage activity, pipeline, and opportunities using SAP and sizing tools
  • Manage/participate in large projects as required
  • Navigate successfully through End User, Engineering, and OEM clients
  • Follow up on quotations regularly to close more sales and learn from opportunities

What you bring:

  • Engineering background or equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of industrial sales experience (valves/automation strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to grow territory and close deals
  • Strong technical aptitude with a consultative, problem-solving mindset
  • Relationship builder with the drive, curiosity, and resilience to win
  • Strong business acumen and instincts with a demonstrated ability to be a high achiever
  • Recognized as a technical expert on core products
  • Comfortable with travel (up to 50%)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Training & Development

Training and development is a key strategic imperative for CGIS’ ongoing success. For onboarding new employees, an individual comprehensive program is developed to ensure they receive everything they need to be successful from the start.

Annual developmental plans for all staff are done to identify what is needed and training is offered in many different forms to meet those needs. We also invest time to create opportunities for employees to work in different branches and markets to broaden their exposure and knowledge.

CG University (CGU) is CGIS’ e-learning platform. This internal university includes both technical and non-technical courses and resources to assist staff throughout their careers to grow and develop.
