What is an Impeller Valve?

 

EBRO Impeller valves are used in powder and bulk material processes to discharge materials in a smooth, continuous manner. Impeller valves discharge powder from silos, hoppers and big bags to the next production step of weighing bins, reactors and screw conveyors. They eliminate your typical problems of clogging, coagulation, compressing and sticking. In addition, impeller valves keep the crushing of granules, pellets and flakes to a minimum.

The impeller wheel is globe shaped and the body is cylindrical inside. There is no scratching of the product on the body wall or product travelling into the bearing or sealing.

Impeller valves have 6 blades (three pairs). Since the inlet geometry is full bore the diameter of the pipe above the impeller valve, the impeller valve can rotate with more than twice the speed of a rotary feeder. The blade can be stopped in the middle of the body with one pair of blades safely sealing. There is no “dead zone” inside, where the product could stay after the valve is stopped.

  • Can be cleaned in place and are easy to maintain with access from outside of the valve
  • Can bear pressure rates up to 10 bar (inside to outside, optional)
  • Can be used in pneumatic vacuum conveying systems to homogenize the product flow into the conveying line
  • Have perma-lubricant sinter bronze bearings and lip seal rings built into the stainless steel cartridge
  • Have FDA bushing to prevent finest powders from travelling towards the cartridge
  • Have no need for air flushing or complicated and expensive bearings and sealing systems
  • Have gear motors that are equipped with an electromagnetic brake. The impeller can be stopped with high precision to ensure product flow stops immediately. The motor can be operated with frequency converters to adjust the rotation speed precisely to the actual requirements of the application.
  • Have a standard double sensor that detects every single blade. The maximum tolerance of discharging is the volume of a single chamber. The second channel detects the open position for cleaning.
